On the last Sunday of the year takes place at 12 noon les pastoretes, this tradition goes back to 1989 and starts from San Nicolas Street to Plaza España. This is a parade where the children go dancing, singing carols, delivering sweets, they are dressed in the typical costumes, and some go on ornate carriages and go next to their flocks. The ultimate goal is to reach out to the baby Jesus and give him gifts.

For the morning there is a popular breakfast in Plaza España that starts at 9:30 with meats and sausages that roast in the bonfires that is realized by the group of dances Carrascal. The act ends at the manger where the shepherds come to worship Jesus. After the adoration of the shepherds, the members of the Carrascal Group accompany  San José, Jesus and the Virgin, which leaves the portal in a donkey.

The Carrascal group dating back to 1985 is responsible for keeping alive the roots and customs of Alcoy, this group is currently made up of 150 active members. Another group that participates is the group of dance San Jordi that counts on an amount of 40 people.

A perfect option to finish this day with the children is to go to a restaurant in Alcoy as the Hostal Savoy that offers a special menu as a complement to this event focused on children as we have monitors and inflatable castle in all services of meals and dinners.
